(Mostly) photo update

What a sweet girl!  She loves talking with her mommy.

There's not too much to report! Ava and I spend most of our days playing here at home since its been so hot outside. We usually make it out a couple times a week to run errands or meet someone for lunch though, so we don't get too stir crazy

Ava has really started noticing her surroundings lately! She loves to sit up on our laps and just look around! She even has started to stand up while we are holding her! She is a strong little girl and I see a day in our near future where she accidentally launches herself off of my lap!

Looking all around while doing tummy time.
Ava still is sleeping very well through the night, usually 7-9 hours at night. She doesn't do as good taking naps during the day, especially in the afternoon, but we got some black out curtains, so hopefully that will help her sleep more than just 45 min- an hour at a time.

We put Ava's bouncer/entertainer together this past weekend, I while her feet can't touch the ground, she has enjoyed sitting in it a couple times and loves looking around.  Tummy time has also been a bit less of torture for her.  We have a Baby Einstein fish display that plays music and lights up and she likes looking at that while doing her tummy time.
First time in her entertainer.

And of course Ava has been smiling so much!  There is nothing quite so sweet as when your child smiles at you.  It melts my heart every time.  I think if you could bottle it up it could be the cure to most ailments.  She has such a sweet smile:)

Smiling up at mommy while sitting outside in her daddy's camp chair.

That's about all for now! Thanks for reading and have a blessed day!

What are those things?!?!  Starting to notice toes...

Throwin down some new mom knowledge

A quick post of some things I have learned these past 2 months...

- I could kiss the person who invented the swaddle. Seriously. Ava may sleep swaddled until she's 18.

- You are never concerned about bowel and bladder habits as much as when you have a baby.

- Ava became better dressed than me her first day of life. Didn't think that would happen until she was a teenager.

- You could not imagine how much your life could revolve around a 6 pound little person until it happens. And you're not even sorry about it! So friends and family who I've missed phone calls or not called as much as you might want, please forgive me. I am trying so hard to be the best mommy I can be that you may just be neglected for now.

- Taking a shower every day will make you feel like a new woman! The days I did not get a shower I felt like I could not wake up and seemed to drag on and on!

- Having your child intentionally smile at you is the absolute greatest feeling on earth and makes even the crummiest of days oh so bright!

- I have never loved my husband more than I do now that we have a daughter. He is so amazingly helpful for me and is a wonderful daddy to Ava. Seeing him with her melts my heart. My life is filled with such joy right now and I am so blessed!

There are many new things I have learned in becoming a mother, but these are just a few that are on my mind now. Here's some pictures of the little lady these days. Thanks for reading!

So adorable even when sleeping!

2 months!

Feeling crummy after her shots but tolerating her photo shoot

Ava has been with us for 2 months now!! Wow! It seems like such a short time yet it is so hard to remember life without her in it! She is just an absolute joy every day and James and I are so blessed to have her as our daughter!

Ava now weighs 10 pounds (15th %) and is 23 inches long (55th %) and has a 14.5 inch head circumference (12th%). She is growing and doing great!

First round of shots went about as expected. Ava screamed when she first got the shot but immediately calmed down afterward. She was pretty tired and cranky the rest of the day and pretty much just wanted to be cuddled by her mommy (I didn't mind so much). She ran a low grade temp that evening but after some tylenol and a good night's rest she woke up feeling much better.

Ava is still sleeping well through the night, usually 7 to 9 hours each night. We still swaddle her, which I swear by and Ava loves! She settles down immediately. She can still move her legs while swaddled though kinda like an inch worm. It's hilarious. I put her to bed the other night in the middle of the bed and by morning she had scooted her way to the top of the bed!

A few of Ava's favorite things... She now loves taking a bath! We still have her in a sling in a basin tub but let the sling down some so she is submerged in the water! So much better for baby and daddy! Ava has a play mat that we are starting to use that has a piano at one end that when she kicks her legs plays notes and music. It has a few toys and baby mirror suspended over her head that she hits with her hands and looks at. And Ava still loves her rocker and usually takes a nap a day in it!

Wide awake after bath time!

Like I said, James and I have so enjoyed these first 2 months as Ava's daddy and mommy. It is so amazing to see her growing and learning every day! But it is also going by too fast already! Ava has such a sweet personality and I love seeing her grow into it every day and can't wait to see more of it in the coming days!

Thanks for reading and hopefully I will get another blog out later this week!!

Pretty smile

She loves watching Toby and smiles at him more than mommy and daddy!
